Reading: We will be finishing: Tomas and the Library Lady, by Pat Mora and Raul Colon Skills: generating and answering questions about the text, retell the story including key details about characters, setting, problem, and resolution; ask and answer questions about vocabulary words, retell story to include the setting, retell the story through a written narrative, distinguish between Tomas' reality and dreams. Develop vocabulary. Starting Wednesday: Waiting for the Biblioburro by Monica Brown and John Parra Skills: Ask and answer question about the text using key details, retell the story including key details, and ask and answer questions about key vocabulary. Grammar: Identifying nouns- common nouns and proper nouns, recognizing the proper capitalization for proper nouns. Identify and generate verbs, Writing: Complete sentences, and responding to the text through writing. Phonics: Letters F, letter H, letter G, and letter R. Math: Module 1 lessons 16-20 (Topic E) Lesson 16: Count on to find the unknown part in missing addend equations (6 + __ = 9). Lesson 17-18: Understand the meaning of the equal sign by pairing equivalent expressions and construction true number sentences (2+6 = 4+4). Lesson 19: Represent the same story scenario with addends repositioned (the commutative property) Lesson 20: Apply the commutative property to count on from a larger addend. This week is a A week!

Reading: Wild About Books by Judy Sierra pictures by Marc Brown Skills: making observations about books, identifying key details, identifying how words and pictures work together in Wild About Books to communicate key details and meaning, and determining the essential meaning, Grammar: sentence structure- capital letter and period Writing: Responding to the text Wild About Books and making text to self connections. Phonics: Letters I, L, A, and Z. Spelling short simple words using those sounds. Math: Module 1 lessons 5-9 Lesson 5: Represent put together situation with number bonds. Cont on from one embedded number or part up to 6 or 7 and write addition expressions for each total. Lesson 6-7: Represent put together situation with number bonds. Count on from one embedded number to totals of 8 and 9 and write addition expressions for each total. Lesson 8: Represent all the number pairs of 10 as a number bond from a given scenario. Lesson 9: Solve add to with result unknown and put together with result unknown math stories using drawing and writing equations and writing an addition sentence to match. August 7-August 11 First Week in First Grade! Reading: Various back to school books. Will begin Wit and Wisdom Module 0 on Friday.
